Cranberry Ginger Mule
The mule is the easiest crowd cocktail there is: nothing to shake, and the fizz does the finishing. Cranberry makes it pretty and sharp enough to stand up to a plate of stuffing. Mix the base in a pitcher, set out the ginger beer and let guests top their own.
What you'll need
- 2 cups vodka (480 ml)
- 2 cups cranberry juice, chilled (480 ml)
- 0.5 cup fresh lime juice (120 ml)
- 4 cups ginger beer, chilled (960 ml)
- 1 lime, in wheels
- 0.5 cup fresh cranberries
- 8 handfuls of ice
How to make it
Stir the vodka, cranberry juice and lime juice together in a pitcher and chill until needed.
Fill each mug with ice. Pour in about 3/4 cup of the base, then top with about 1/2 cup ginger beer.
Add a lime wheel and a few cranberries to each.
Glass: Copper mugs or tall glasses over ice. Garnish: A lime wheel and a few fresh cranberries.
Chef's secrets
Pick a spicy ginger beer; ginger ale will taste flat against the cranberry.
Add a handful of frozen cranberries to the mugs instead of more ice.
Good to know
The base keeps two days in the fridge. Ginger beer only goes in at the last moment.
