Emerald Night Sour
Nothing else in the cabinet is this colour. Melon liqueur is sweet, so the trick is plenty of fresh citrus and a splash of soda to lengthen it. What you get is closer to a tart melon lemonade than the syrupy green drinks you may remember.
What you'll need
- 1.5 oz melon liqueur (45 ml)
- 1 oz vodka (30 ml)
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice (15 ml)
- 0.5 oz fresh lime juice (15 ml)
- 2 oz club soda (60 ml)
- 1.5 cups melon liqueur (360 ml)
- 1 cup vodka (240 ml)
- 0.5 cup fresh lemon juice (120 ml)
- 0.5 cup fresh lime juice (120 ml)
- 2 cups club soda, chilled (480 ml)
How to make it
Shake the melon liqueur, vodka, lemon juice and lime juice with ice for 10 seconds.
Strain into a tall glass over fresh ice and top with the club soda.
Stir the liqueur, vodka and juices together and chill. Pour over ice and top each glass with soda.
Glass: Highball or Collins glass. Garnish: A lime wheel and a dark cherry on a pick.
Chef's secrets
The measured citrus is what keeps this from being too sweet. Use fresh juice.
For a frothy top, shake with one egg white, without ice first and then with.
Good to know
The pitcher base keeps for a day in the fridge. Add soda in the glass, not the pitcher.
