Cranberry Orange Slush

Children at big family dinners always want something to be theirs. This slush is made from frozen juice cubes, so it takes three minutes to blend at the last moment and looks like a treat. The cranberry keeps it tart enough that the grown-ups steal sips.

What you'll need

  • 2 cups cranberry juice (480 ml)
  • 1 cup orange juice (240 ml)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 18 frozen juice cubes (about)
  • 1 cup cold lemon-lime soda (240 ml)
  • orange wheels

How to make it

  1. Stir the juices and honey until the honey dissolves, pour into ice cube trays and freeze at least 4 hours.

  2. Put the cubes in a blender with the soda. Pulse and then blend until just slushy and still thick.

  3. Spoon into tall glasses straight away and add a straw.

  4. Glass: Tall glasses. Garnish: A thin orange wheel on the rim.

Chef's secrets

Add the soda a little at a time; too much turns the slush to juice.

A frozen banana makes it creamier for very young children.
