Fuzzy Monster Berry Freeze
Frozen fruit and juice, nothing else, blended until it is thick enough to stand a spoon in. Stick two candy eyes on the cup and it becomes a monster. It is mostly fruit, which is a useful thing to be able to say on a night that is otherwise all candy.
What you'll need
- 3 cups frozen mixed berries, mostly blueberries and blackberries (about 420 g)
- 1.5 cups Concord grape juice, chilled (360 ml)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (30 ml)
- 1 cup ice (about 140 g)
- 8 candy eyes
- 1 teaspoon honey or frosting, to stick the eyes on
How to make it
Dab a little honey or frosting on the back of each candy eye and press two onto the outside of each cup.
Put the grape juice and lemon juice in the blender first, then the berries and ice. Blend, stopping to stir, until thick and smooth.
Spoon or pour into the cups and serve at once with wide straws or spoons.
Glass: Clear cups. Garnish: Candy eyes on the cup; a blackberry on top.
Chef's secrets
If the blender stalls, add juice a splash at a time.
A handful of spinach disappears into the colour completely, if you want it to.
Good to know
It does not hold; blend to order. You can measure the fruit into bags in the freezer and the juice into a jug in the fridge so each batch takes a minute.
