Trick-or-Treat Mudslide
For after the children are in bed and the candy bowl is still half full. It is a milkshake with a grown-up streak: coffee liqueur, Irish cream and a little vodka, blended with ice cream and a couple of chocolate bars. Dessert and a drink in one glass.
What you'll need
- 2 cups vanilla ice cream, 4 scoops (about 280 g)
- 1.5 oz vodka (45 ml)
- 1.5 oz coffee liqueur (45 ml)
- 1.5 oz Irish cream liqueur (45 ml)
- 1 cup ice (about 140 g)
- 4 fun-size chocolate candy bars, chopped (about 60 g)
- 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup, for the glasses (30 ml)
How to make it
Drizzle the chocolate syrup around the inside of two glasses and put them in the freezer while you blend.
Blend the ice cream, vodka, coffee liqueur, Irish cream, ice and half the chopped candy until thick and smooth.
Pour into the glasses and scatter the rest of the candy on top.
Glass: Tall glasses or small milkshake glasses. Garnish: Chopped candy and a little whipped cream.
Chef's secrets
Chocolate bars with nougat or caramel blend best; hard candy does not.
If it is too thin, add another scoop of ice cream rather than more ice.
Good to know
Chop the candy and swirl the glasses ahead; keep the glasses in the freezer. Blend at the last minute.
